One of the best growers of orchids I know gave me his recipe to the perfect Oncidium orchid potting mix. This is a grower who can take a standard 4" oncidium, and within a year or two turn it into an AOS award winning specimen! Believe me when I say you'd like to be an orchid under his care!

This mix is made with fine fir bark, calcium chips, coarse perlite and ground granite.

Very good media

I have used this for an Oncidium "Twinkle" with no amendments, and it took to it very quickly, with no die back. Can't ask for more than that!

I also often use it as an amendment for other media. I have used it to supplement phalaenopsis mixes with great success. It also seems to work very well with anthuriums if you chop up some small handfuls of LFS to go with it to help retain moisture.

Overall my experience with this has been extremely positive. The only thing remotely negative is that the smaller particulates can fall to the bottom, so make sure you give the bag a few turns before using. Beyond that, it's been great.

Have not used the media, but looks good to me and the small pots are very nice.
